The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Usman Sagiru, from Sharifai Quarters, for his alleged involvement in an attack on vigilantes escorting Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from the Eid prayer ground.
The incident happened on Sunday, March 30, as people were leaving the prayer ground. According to the police, Sagiru and other suspects—who are still on the run—allegedly stabbed Surajo Rabiu, a vigilante from Sabon Titi Jaba Quarters. Sadly, Rabiu did not survive. Another vigilante, Aminu Suleman from Kofar Mata Quarters, was also injured and is being treated at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital.
The police have launched a full investigation and have invited Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Isyaku, for questioning. They also reminded the public that all Durbar celebrations remain banned and warned that anyone who violates this rule will face legal action.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to tackling thuggery (Daba) and any activities that threaten public order.
"We urge everyone to stay calm and cooperate with us as we work to maintain peace and security in Kano State," the statement said.
It is very badly.
