Title: US Conducts Multiple Airstrikes Targeting Houthi Forces in Yemen Amid Escalation
Post by: Suyuti1 on Mar 17, 2025, 10:42 AM
The United States has launched a series of targeted airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen, citing the group's continued attacks on Red Sea shipping routes as the primary justification. President Donald Trump described the strikes as a firm response to the Iran-backed group's missile and drone assaults on US and allied forces.

The Houthi-run health ministry reported casualties from the attacks, while the rebels vowed to retaliate. Explosions were reported in the capital, Sanaa, and the northern province of Saada, where the group has a stronghold.

Trump warned the Houthis of severe consequences if they persisted in their aggression, stating that the US would use "overwhelming lethal force" to achieve its objectives. Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a warning to Iran, the Houthis' key supporter, signaling that Tehran could face repercussions if it continued backing the group.

The ongoing conflict has significantly disrupted global shipping, forcing vessels to reroute around Africa, bypassing the Red Sea and Suez Canal. Despite previous US and UK strikes, the Houthis have continued their attacks, framing them as support for Palestinians in Gaza.

The situation remains volatile, with both sides signaling further escalation.
