Title: UN, Arab League and Egypt unite for Palestinian statehood

The UN General Assembly has voted to resume a high-level international summit on September 22, focusing on reviving the two-state solution between Israel and Palestine. The proposal, jointly pushed by Saudi Arabia and France, comes after months of escalating violence and humanitarian crises in the region.

Despite opposition from Israel and the US, the decision highlights a renewed global determination to pursue a just and lasting settlement. Saudi Arabia's representative at the UN, Abdulaziz Alwasil, stressed that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to uphold international law and prevent further erosion of hope for peace.

The Arab League's Council of Foreign Ministers also adopted a resolution affirming regional security and emphasizing the centrality of the Palestinian cause. The resolution condemned Israeli settlement expansion and called for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The ministers warned that the lack of progress on Palestine remains a core driver of instability and extremism across the Middle East.

Egypt further strengthened this united front by vowing to prevent any attempt at mass displacement of Palestinians. Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty declared displacement a "red line" and condemned Israel's military actions in Gaza as genocide and an assault on human dignity.

Gaza health authorities report that more than 64,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, with much of Gaza City destroyed and residents suffering famine-like conditions.

These combined positions signal a growing international consensus that peace and stability in the region cannot be achieved without justice for Palestinians and an end to occupation.
