Türkiye has once again stressed the urgent need for comprehensive reforms within the United Nations Security Council, emphasizing that the continued use of veto powers highlights the pressing nature of the issue.
Speaking on Wednesday, Türkiye's representative to the UN, Ahmet Yildiz, reaffirmed Ankara's long-standing position on transforming the Council into a more inclusive, democratic, accountable, and effective body.
> "Türkiye has advocated for years for a reformed, inclusive, democratic, accountable, and effective Security Council," Yildiz said in a post on X.
"The use of the veto underscores the urgency of this cause," he added.
The call reflects Türkiye's consistent stance that the current structure of the Security Council no longer represents the realities of today's world, and that meaningful reform is essential for the UN to maintain global credibility and effectiveness.
