President Trump announced a shift in US policy. He plans to normalize relations with Syria's new leadership. Sanctions will be lifted, he stated. This aims to provide Syria an opportunity for peace. The announcement was made on Tuesday.

Trump's decision followed talks with regional leaders. Discussions included Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also participated. The move signifies a potential change in US-Syria relations. He intends to meet President Al-Sharaa.

Addressing the Saudi-US Investment Forum, Trump expressed optimism. He wished the new Syrian government success. "Show us something special," he urged. The announcement was met with a standing ovation. Trump acknowledged the Crown Prince's influence.

Ahmad Al-Sharaa assumed Syria's presidency in January. This followed a rebel offensive. Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham led the takeover. It ended the Assad family's long rule. The US has considered its stance since then. Gulf nations support the new Syrian government.

The Trump administration has yet to formally recognize Al-Sharaa's government. Sanctions imposed under Assad's rule remain in place. The White House confirmed a planned meeting. Trump's remarks signaled a potential policy reversal. He aims for normalized ties.
