Title: Sowore Criticizes Presidential Decision To Close Schools For Ramadan Celebration
Post by: Suyuti1 on Mar 06, 2025, 06:07 PM
Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and former presidential candidate, has strongly criticized northern governors for closing schools in four states during Ramadan, calling the decision "uninformed" and "senseless".

Sowore argued that Nigeria, as a secular state, should not allow religious considerations to disrupt academic activities. He pointed out that even in Saudi Arabia, a major Islamic hub, schools remain open during Ramadan.
Sowore emphasized that if he were president, he would not permit state governments to impose religious considerations on governance.

He believes that religion should not interfere with education, and that schools should remain open to provide students with uninterrupted learning.
