Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has called on the international community to end what he described as "double standards" and hold Israel accountable for its actions. He stressed that Israel's repeated violations in Gaza and beyond amount to crimes that cannot go unpunished.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting for an emergency summit of Arab and Islamic leaders in Doha, the prime minister highlighted the gravity of the latest Israeli airstrike. The attack, carried out in the Qatari capital, killed six people, including five Hamas officials and a Qatari security member.
Sheikh Mohammed said the strike was not only a violation of Qatar's sovereignty but also an attack on the principle of mediation. Doha, he explained, had been working with Egypt and the United States to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza when the attack occurred.
"This reckless aggression can only be described as state terrorism," he said, accusing Israel of disregarding international law and targeting Qatar during official negotiations aimed at peace.
Foreign ministers of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation joined the summit to draft a unified response. The ministers strongly condemned the strike, framing it as a violation of Qatar's sovereignty and international norms.
Saudi Arabia also denounced the attack, with Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stressing solidarity with Doha and urging the international community to hold Israel accountable. The summit is expected to adopt a strong resolution calling for immediate global action.Source:
