Title: Qatar PM Urges Clear Mandate For Gaza Peace Forces
Post by: Abdullah on Nov 04, 2025, 09:54 PM
Qatar's Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, emphasized the crucial role of international forces in maintaining peace in Gaza. Speaking to CNN, he underscored that these forces, deployed under the US-brokered ceasefire, must ensure that neither Palestinians nor Israelis pose threats to each other. Sheikh Mohammed insisted that the International Stabilization Force must operate under a well-defined and transparent mandate to be effective.

Addressing ongoing challenges, the Prime Minister highlighted frequent ceasefire violations. He noted that agreements, including the truce signed on January 25, had been breached multiple times. Sheikh Mohammed stressed the need for continuous collaboration with Egypt and the United States to enforce compliance and maintain long-term stability in the region.

Regarding governance in Gaza, Qatar continues to support the Palestinian Authority (PA) as the legitimate administrative body for both Gaza and the West Bank. Currently, a technocratic, apolitical committee oversees Gaza's affairs temporarily, allowing essential services to function until comprehensive reforms enable the PA to fully resume governance.

Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed the two-state solution as the only sustainable path to peace. He stressed that Israelis and Palestinians must have the opportunity to coexist safely within defined borders, with mutual recognition and security guarantees ensuring long-term stability.

The planned deployment of international forces, according to the ceasefire framework, primarily involves Arab and Muslim nations. This regional collaboration reflects a broader strategy to ensure impartiality, minimize escalation, and provide credible oversight during this fragile period of calm.

In conclusion, Qatar's position emphasizes the importance of a structured international approach to conflict resolution. Clear mandates, regional cooperation, support for legitimate governance, and the pursuit of a two-state solution are critical steps toward lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
