The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has called on stakeholders to cooperate and prioritize unity for the success of the 2025 Hajj operations. In a statement by Fatima Sanda Usara, Assistant Director of Information and Publication, the Commission noted that pilgrims have made significant financial, emotional, and spiritual commitments, and disagreements among service providers should not hinder the quality of service delivery. NAHCON acknowledged recent disputes in the media, emphasizing that although concerning, such debates show that stakeholders are deeply invested in ensuring the welfare of the pilgrims.
NAHCON stated its intention to hold a stakeholders' retreat after the 2025 Hajj, aimed at clarifying roles and responsibilities within the Hajj ecosystem. The Commission explained that the new Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has not had the opportunity to organize such a forum since assuming office. It also referenced plans by his predecessor, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, who had hoped to hold a similar retreat to address operational challenges and foster smoother cooperation.
Reaffirming its commitment to facilitating a successful Hajj experience, the Commission urged all parties involved to set aside differences and focus on their shared responsibility to serve the pilgrims effectively. NAHCON stressed that this collective goal should take precedence, especially given the significant expectations placed on all service providers by the intending pilgrims and the broader Muslim community.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Arabian authorities have announced that April 13 is the final date for pilgrims wishing to enter the Kingdom for Umrah, while April 29 is the deadline for those already in the Kingdom to exit in preparation for Hajj. NAHCON warned that violators would face a fine of SR100,000 and advised all Umrah pilgrims to strictly comply with these regulations to avoid penalties or disruptions to their plans.
