Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has declared Thursday, June 26, a public holiday to commemorate the 1447 Hijrah celebration. This marks the start of the new Islamic calendar year in the state.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq extended warm congratulations to all Muslim faithful on this significant occasion.

The Governor specifically approved the holiday for Thursday, the first day of Muharram 1447. He urged the Muslim community to deeply reflect on the Hijrah's significance, emphasizing its importance for both the community and wider human society.

AbdulRazaq called for a renewed dedication to positive human relations, peaceful coexistence, open dialogue, and mutual respect among all citizens. He highlighted that the Hijrah serves as a powerful lesson in both personal and collective sacrifice for noble causes.

The Governor's message underscored the need to abandon anything that contradicts peace, harmony, and social justice. This emphasizes the core values of the Islamic new year celebration.

Finally, Governor AbdulRazaq offered prayers that the new Hijrah year brings goodness, abundance, increased security, enduring happiness, and renewed faith to all families across Kwara State.
