The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has accused Israel of using hunger as a weapon against civilians in Gaza. The agency said this includes over one million children facing severe food shortages.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), UNRWA said, "The Israeli Authorities are starving civilians in Gaza. Among them are 1 million children." This comment highlights the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.
UNRWA warned that the situation is getting worse every day. Without food and medical aid, the health and survival of thousands are at risk. Children are the most affected by the ongoing siege.
The agency stressed that starvation must never be used in war. It called the tactic a violation of international law and human rights.
UNRWA is urgently asking for the full lifting of Israel's blockade. It wants to bring in essential food and medical supplies immediately.
"Lift the siege," it said, "Let us save lives."
