Iran's nuclear sites, reportedly struck by the United States, were evacuated ahead of the attacks. Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency confirmed the evacuation, citing IRIB's political deputy.
President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social Saturday that the US had successfully struck three key Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
Trump's post detailed the operation, stating that "all planes are now outside of Iran air space" and confirming that a "full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow."
He also lauded the "great American Warriors," emphasizing the unparalleled capability of the US military. Trump concluded his statement with a call for "NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!"
These attacks signify the first direct military involvement by the United States in the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, marking a critical turning point in regional tensions.
President Trump later indicated he would address the nation at 10 p.m. ET Saturday night to discuss the situation further.
