Iran's Health Ministry confirms a sharp increase in civilian casualties since hostilities with Israel began on June 13, 2025. At least 610 civilians have been killed and over 4,700 wounded, according to spokesman Hossein Kermanpour.
Kermanpour provided the updated figures on Tuesday, highlighting a significant jump from previously reported tolls. He emphasized on X (formerly Twitter) that "they are all civilians," describing "extremely harrowing scenes" in hospitals across the country over the past 12 days.
The tragic toll includes vulnerable populations. Kermanpour detailed that 163 women have been injured, and 44 women martyred, with two pregnant mothers losing their lives alongside their unborn children. Additionally, 13 children, the youngest just two months old, are among the deceased.
The youngest survivor, a four-year-old child, remains in the ICU with severe burns. This child's family suffered immense loss; their mother, Dr. Rasouli, an obstetrician-gynecologist, and their father and two-month-old sister were also killed.
The Health Ministry also reported significant damage to critical infrastructure. Seven hospitals and nine ambulances have been impacted by what they describe as Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, though specific details on the nature and locations of these attacks were not provided.
These escalating figures underscore the grim reality of the conflict. With international concern growing and calls for restraint from global powers, the rising civilian suffering and infrastructure damage heighten fears of a broader regional war.
