The Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, has hailed Turkiye for standing firmly with the oppressed people of Gaza. The recognition came after Turkiye made a strong move against Israel by cutting trade and transportation ties, in protest of the ongoing genocide and destruction in Gaza.

On Friday, Turkiye officially announced the suspension of all trade with Israel. The Turkish government also closed its airspace to Israeli aircraft and banned its ships from entering ports linked to the occupied Palestinian territories. This decisive step, according to observers, represents one of the boldest moves by any Muslim-majority nation in response to Israel's crimes.

In a statement shared with the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Hamas warmly welcomed the action taken by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The movement emphasized that Turkiye's decision reflects genuine solidarity with Palestinians facing continuous bombardment, blockade, and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Hamas further stressed that the global community must not remain silent. The group called on Arab and Islamic nations, alongside free peoples of the world, to escalate punitive measures against Israel. Cutting economic ties, isolating the Zionist regime, and exposing its war crimes were highlighted as urgent duties.

The statement added that these measures are essential to stop the ongoing genocide, destruction of infrastructure, and deliberate targeting of civilians in Gaza. Hamas also urged international actors to hold Israeli leaders accountable for crimes against humanity through global legal institutions.

This move by Turkiye, Hamas concluded, serves as an example for other nations to follow in defending justice and protecting innocent lives in Palestine.
