Kano, Nigeria - The Gaya Emirate Council has stripped Alhaji Usman Alhaji, former Secretary to the Kano State Government and a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, of his Wazirin Gaya traditional title. This significant development, conveyed via an official letter from the Emirate Council, is effective immediately.
Alhaji Usman Alhaji previously served as SSG during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. While the Gaya Emirate did not provide explicit reasons for this decision, it follows closely on the heels of Alhaji's public criticisms.
Under the banner of the "APC Patriotic Volunteers," Alhaji Usman Alhaji recently accused Governor Abba Yusuf's New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) administration of lacking direction, competence, and clear policy initiatives, sparking considerable political discussion.
The withdrawal, formalized in a letter dated Wednesday by the Secretary of the Gaya Emirate Council, Alhaji Bello Halilu, was attributed to "certain unavoidable circumstances," as stated by the Gaya Zonal Information Officer, Munzali Muhammad Hausawa.
Despite the revocation, the Emirate Council acknowledged Alhaji Usman Alhaji's past contributions to the traditional institution and his efforts in promoting the cultural values of the emirate during his tenure as Wazirin Gaya.
This action reinforces the Emirate's dedication to preserving the sanctity, dignity, and integrity of traditional titles, aligning with established customs and values. The public has been urged to take note of this notable development.
