Title: France and UK May Officially Recognize Palestine Statehood Soon
Post by: Abdulrahmon Mubarak on Jul 31, 2025, 09:24 AM
Recent moves by France and the United Kingdom could soon shift the global political stage. Both countries are considering officially recognizing the State of Palestine. If they do, this decision will leave the United States as the only permanent member of the United Nations Security Council that has not taken this step.

This potential recognition comes amid ongoing conflict in Gaza. The situation escalated dramatically after the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas on southern Israel. That attack resulted in the deaths of around 1,200 people and the kidnapping of 251 others, triggering a strong military response from Israel.

Since then, the toll on Gaza has been devastating. According to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry, more than 60,000 people have lost their lives in the region. This number includes large-scale civilian casualties and reflects the scale of the destruction caused by continued air and ground operations.

Malnutrition has added to the humanitarian crisis. Reports say 154 people, including 89 children, have died due to severe hunger and lack of medical care. Aid organizations have repeatedly called for more access to the area, but restrictions remain tight.

If France and the UK go ahead with recognition, it could place pressure on other Western nations to reassess their foreign policies toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Many international voices see this as a step toward a two-state solution.

The world now watches closely as diplomatic tides shift. Recognition of Palestine could mark a turning point in global politics and human rights.
