The European Commission announced Monday a significant allocation of $230 million to support both the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the Palestinian Authority (PA). This funding underscores the EU's unwavering commitment to the Palestinian people.

A substantial €150 million ($172 million) is earmarked for the PA, aimed at ensuring the delivery of crucial public services. This includes covering salaries for teachers, civil servants, and healthcare workers, contingent on the implementation of a vital reform agenda.

UNRWA will receive €52 million ($58 million) to bolster its essential education, healthcare, and relief services. These services are vital for Palestinian refugees residing in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.

Dubravka Suica, the Commissioner for the Mediterranean, reaffirmed the EU's steadfast support. She highlighted this disbursement as a clear indication of their "unwavering political and financial commitment" to the Palestinian cause.

These funds are part of the broader Palestine Recovery and Resilience program for 2025-2026, a substantial initiative totaling up to €1.6 billion ($1.84 billion). This program also reiterates the EU's firm support for a two-state solution.

The EU expresses deep concern over the "catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza" and deteriorating conditions in the West Bank. The commitment to a just and lasting peace, built on a negotiated two-state solution, remains a core tenet of their policy.
