Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari, the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri (Elem Kalabari) in Rivers State, has been named the President-General (Ameer Muminin) of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs for the South East and South South regions of Nigeria.
The announcement was made during a visit by leaders of the Eastern and Southern Nigeria Islamic Council to his palace in Rivers State.
Dr. Haroun Ogbonnia Ajah, Vice President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, praised Asari Dokubo's long-standing dedication to Islam, recognizing his role in mosque construction, community support, and fostering religious harmony.
In his acceptance speech, Dokubo promised to enhance the welfare of Muslims in the region through economic empowerment programs.
He also called for prayers and backing for President Bola Tinubu's administration, stressing the importance of good governance and national progress.
The event concluded with prayers for Nigeria's peace and unity.
