A new chapter in Middle East diplomacy is unfolding as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkiye, Qatar, and Egypt declared their support for US President Donald Trump's recently unveiled Gaza peace plan. Announced alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, the 20-point proposal seeks to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza and lay the foundation for a sustainable peace in the region.Arab and Muslim foreign ministers welcomed what they described as Trump's "sincere efforts," expressing confidence in his ability to "find a path to peace." They emphasized the importance of cooperation with Washington, viewing the plan as a significant opportunity to achieve a comprehensive settlement and long-term stability for Palestinians and Israelis alike.
The plan's key components include a ceasefire agreement, the exchange of hostages and prisoners, a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the disarmament of Hamas. It also outlines large-scale reconstruction efforts in Gaza, supported by international aid coordinated by neutral bodies such as the United Nations and the Red Crescent. Importantly, the plan promises no forced displacement of Palestinians.
A transitional authority — backed by the US and regional partners — would manage Gaza's security, with the Palestinian Authority gradually taking on governance responsibilities following internal reforms. The proposal hints at a "credible pathway" toward Palestinian statehood, though detailed mechanisms remain under discussion.
Trump's plan has received conditional backing from Netanyahu, despite elements that diverge from Israel's previous positions. The requirement for Hamas to disarm and Trump's pledge to block any Israeli annexation of the West Bank are central to the plan's framework.
Arab and Muslim nations underscored that reconstruction, humanitarian support, and progress toward a two-state solution — with Gaza and the West Bank forming a sovereign Palestinian state — are essential steps toward lasting peace and regional stability.
