President Donald Trump urged Gulf leaders to support his push for a nuclear deal with Iran, stressing that Tehran must halt support for proxy groups and end its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Speaking in Riyadh at a Gulf Cooperation Council meeting, Trump emphasized that Iran cannot be allowed nuclear capability and must stop funding terrorism and regional conflicts through its allied militias.

The U.S. and Iran have conducted four negotiation rounds since last month, with Trump hopeful for a deal but warning that the opportunity may soon vanish without firm Iranian commitments.

Trump cited Iran's support of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis as major barriers to peace. He noted these proxies have suffered losses since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.

Iran's foreign minister rejected Trump's comments as deceptive. Trump, however, believes this is a critical moment to defeat Hezbollah, especially after the group's leadership losses and the fall of Syrian ally Assad.
