Title: Oyo School in Ruins: Urgent Plea for Government Action
Post by: Abdulrahmon Mubarak on Jun 12, 2025, 10:02 AM
A classroom block in Zumratul Hujaj Community Grammar School, Olorunsogo, Ibadan, collapsed after a heavy windstorm. Since then, no help has come from the Oyo State Government.

Now, students are forced to learn in overcrowded, unsafe classrooms. The collapsed structure remains abandoned, covered in weeds and debris.

This situation persists even though the government budgeted over ₦149 billion for education in 2025, showing a lack of action where it matters most.

Civic platform Monitng has spoken out, urging Governor Seyi Makinde to act quickly. They say the school reflects the neglect of public education in the state.

They believe the government is spending money on less important things while schools are falling apart. Their message is clear: fix what really matters.

Students deserve better. The state must rebuild and create safe, quality classrooms for every child in Oyo State.
