Islamic dress etiquette reflects modesty, dignity, and submission to Allah's guidance. The Qur'an commands both men and women to dress modestly:

"O children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer..."
— Surah Al-A'raf (7:31)

For men, clothing must cover from the navel to the knees at minimum. For women, the body should be fully covered, except for the face and hands (according to many scholars), especially in public. The Qur'an states:

"...And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment..."
— Surah An-Nur (24:31)

The Prophet ﷺ emphasized avoiding pride in dress. He said:

"Whoever wears clothes for fame, Allah will clothe him with humiliation on the Day of Resurrection."
— Sunan Ibn Majah (3607)

The Sahaba practiced simplicity and humility. Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA), despite being Caliph, often wore patched garments, valuing taqwa over fashion.

Islam encourages clean, dignified, non-revealing, and culturally respectful dress. It's not only about covering the body, but also honoring the soul — reminding us that clothing is a gift and a test of our humility before Allah.
