Nigerian Muslims will gather this week for a special Juma'h service in support of Palestine during the annual Aqsa Day 2025. The event, organized by Muslim Awareness International (MAI), will be held at the Dawah Centre, Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Ijeshatedo, Lagos, on Friday, September 5, 2025. Thousands of worshippers from different parts of the country are expected to attend.

This year's Aqsa Day coincides with the 12th of Rabiul Awwal 1447AH, a national holiday in Nigeria that also marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The date provides an opportunity for the Muslim Ummah to combine celebration of faith with a renewed call for justice for the people of Gaza.

According to MAI Director, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Atoyebi, the 2025 edition will differ from past gatherings. Instead of large open-air rallies, the programme will focus on special prayers and reflection. A pre-Khutbah lecture starting at 10 a.m. will highlight the implications of the Israeli occupation and its effects on Muslims worldwide.

The Juma'h service will include Qunoot supplications, asking Allah to grant relief to Palestinians and other oppressed people around the globe. A solidarity rally will follow, symbolizing unity among Nigerian Muslims with their brothers and sisters in crisis-ridden regions.

Organisers explained that nearly two years of ongoing genocide in Gaza have claimed tens of thousands of innocent lives, especially children and women. With peace talks failing, they believe divine intervention remains the ultimate hope for justice and freedom.

MAI has therefore urged Muslims across Nigeria, regardless of background or school of thought, to join the programme. Participation is described as both a spiritual duty and a historic opportunity to stand for truth, justice, and humanity.
