The Guardian has released a new documentary titled "The Oath," sharing the struggles of Palestinian doctors in Israel. It follows Dr. Lina Qasem-Hassan, who continues to serve patients on both sides of the conflict.
She works in Israel's healthcare system, where Arab citizens make up nearly 25% of doctors, yet still face unfair treatment, fewer chances, and growing hostility since the Gaza war began in October.
Dr. Lina shares that Palestinian staff are often slandered, even by their patients and coworkers. In her words, "Anti-Palestinian feeling is rising everywhere," making her work even harder.
She lost 11 family members, including a paramedic cousin, in Israeli airstrikes. Still, she keeps caring for the wounded in Gaza and the West Bank.
As chairwoman of Physicians for Human Rights — Israel, she speaks out despite threats of punishment and false accusations of terrorism support.
