A prominent Palestinian lawyer has revealed chilling evidence of abuse, sexual violence, and torture being inflicted on Gaza prisoners inside Israeli detention centers. These disturbing testimonies suggest a systematic pattern of inhumane treatment aimed at breaking the spirits of detainees.
Khaled Mahajna, a lawyer with the Palestinian Authority's Commission of Detainees' Affairs, shared the account in an exclusive interview with Anadolu. He described one particularly horrifying case that involved the rape of a Palestinian prisoner by an Israeli female jailer in the open courtyard of a prison facility.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was reportedly shackled and unable to resist during the attack. Mahajna stated that the jailer mocked and tortured the man while using tools and methods that he said "went beyond human cruelty and entered the realm of pure sadism."
Mahajna compared the incident to the infamous Abu Ghraib prison scandal, declaring this assault to be even more brutal. He warned that such acts are not isolated but part of an organized strategy to humiliate and psychologically destroy detainees.
These revelations have sparked outrage among human rights advocates, who stress that such treatment is a direct violation of international human rights laws and the Geneva Conventions.
The lawyer urged the international community to launch an independent investigation and hold those responsible accountable. He also called for stronger action to protect Palestinian detainees from further abuse in Israeli custody.
