The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has strongly condemned Israel for allegedly creating famine conditions in Gaza. UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini accused Israel of blocking food and medical aid needed by thousands of starving people.
He stated that since March 2, Israel has prevented UNRWA—described as the "backbone of humanitarian response"—from delivering urgent supplies. This blockade has worsened suffering in the war-torn region.
Lazzarini warned that a manmade famine is unfolding in Gaza, not due to a lack of resources, but due to deliberate political decisions aimed at weakening UN humanitarian efforts.
He further criticized the so-called "GHF aid system," calling it a politically driven alternative responsible for the deaths of nearly 1,400 starving individuals.
According to UNRWA, the Israeli government's actions have undermined the coordinated UN aid system that had previously helped millions of Palestinians.
The global community is now being urged to intervene and restore humanitarian operations.
