Title: Emir Sanusi Warns Fire Will Consume Those Threatening Kano’s Peace
Post by: Suyuti1 on Mar 26, 2025, 12:54 PM
The Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, has urged residents to uphold law and order while warning against any actions that could incite unrest. He also issued a strong warning to those opposing his reinstallation, stating that fire would consume anyone attempting to disrupt the city's peace.

In a voice message in Hausa shared by Premier Radio on Facebook on Monday, March 24, Emir Sanusi condemned those challenging his emirship, stating that they were going against the will of God and would not fare well in the end. He urged the people of Kano to remain patient and prayerful, emphasizing that the ongoing conflict over the emirate was not about him personally but rather a matter of divine destiny. He called on residents to uphold peace and lawfulness, assuring them that God supports those who are fair and just.

Delivering a strong warning, Sanusi declared that fire would consume anyone attempting to incite violence in Kano, adding that such individuals would never experience peace in their lives. He invoked divine protection over the nation and its people, affirming that those who challenge God's decision will ultimately face dire consequences.

Emir Sanusi's statement appears to be linked to rising tensions following Governor Abba Yusuf's directive for the state's emirate councils to prepare for the Sallah durbar procession. This directive has further deepened the conflict, as Sanusi's rival, Aminu Ado Bayero, also announced his own plans for a durbar, which would coincide with his fifth anniversary as Emir of Kano.

In a letter addressed to security agencies, Ado Bayero's private secretary, Abdullahi Kwaru, assured that the planned durbar would be conducted peacefully. The letter formally informed authorities of the event, which would serve as both a celebration of the Sallah festival and a commemoration of Ado Bayero's five years on the throne.

This latest development stems from the Kano State government's decision last May to remove Ado Bayero and reinstate Sanusi as emir under a revised emirates law. Ado Bayero, however, is challenging his removal in court, leading to a standoff in which both men now occupy separate palaces in the city, each claiming the title of Emir of Kano.
