Title: Zakatul Fitr: Obligatory Charity for Muslims After Ramadan Fasting Completion
Post by: Suyuti1 on Mar 28, 2025, 01:08 PM
Don't Forget Zakatul Fitr Before Eid!

As Ramadan nears its conclusion, it's time to remember a key obligation—Zakatul Fitr.

This mandatory charity is required from every fasting Muslim and must be given before the Eid prayer. The Prophet ﷺ said:

"The fast remains suspended between heaven and earth until the Sadaqat al-Fitr is paid."
(Hadith - Abu Dawood & Ibn Majah)

This highlights that Zakatul Fitr completes and purifies our fasts, making up for any shortcomings during Ramadan.

 What Should Be Given?
The Prophet ﷺ instructed that Zakatul Fitr should be given in staple food, including:
✅ Rice
✅ Wheat
✅ Dates
✅ Corn
✅ Millet
✅ Other locally consumed grains

Each person must give one Sā' (roughly 4 mudus or 12 cups/tins of grain).

Although scholars generally discourage giving cash directly, you can donate money to **reliable organizations** that will buy and distribute food on your behalf.

When to Give It?
Before the Eid prayer—giving it afterward counts only as regular charity, not Zakatul Fitr.
🎁 It's best to give it in advance so that those in need can benefit from it on Eid day.

Let's complete our fasts in the best way and bring happiness to those less fortunate.

May Allah accept our fasting, prayers, and charity. **Ameen!**
