Title: Zionist Settler Kills Palestinian Activist in West Bank Raid
Post by: Abdulrahmon Mubarak on Jul 29, 2025, 05:11 PM
A prominent Palestinian activist, Awdah Muhammad Hathaleen, was shot and killed by an illegal Zionist settler during a brutal attack on Umm al-Kheir village in the occupied West Bank. The tragic news was confirmed by the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Education, which mourned the loss of a well-known voice for justice and resistance.

Hathaleen, a resident of Masafer Yatta, had close ties to the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land, which showcased the suffering of Palestinians under occupation. He was known for standing peacefully against the Israeli demolition of Palestinian homes and illegal settler expansion across southern Hebron.

Israeli police confirmed the killing, describing it as an "incident near Carmel," a nearby illegal settlement. They stated that one Israeli settler was arrested at the scene and is under investigation. However, the military also arrested four Palestinians, sparking criticism over biased law enforcement.

Police also reported that the death of a Palestinian was confirmed but added that the victim's "involvement" in the incident was being reviewed—despite eyewitnesses claiming Hathaleen was unarmed and not involved in any violence.

Masafer Yatta, where Hathaleen lived, has long been declared a "closed military zone" by Israeli authorities. It is one of the most targeted areas for demolitions, land grabs, and settler attacks, leaving hundreds of families at constant risk.

Hathaleen's death has once again exposed the dangers Palestinian civilians face daily. His legacy as a peaceful resister will remain an inspiration to many.
