Israel plans to build nearly 2,400 new settlement units in the occupied West Bank, according to a recent report from the PLO.
The plan includes over 1,300 units specifically in Qalqilya, with hundreds more scheduled for areas near Ramallah, East Jerusalem, and Bethlehem.
Palestinian figures indicate about 770,000 illegal settlers already reside in the occupied West Bank within existing settlements and outposts.
The international community, including the United Nations, consistently views these Israeli settlements as illegal under international law.
The UN has repeatedly warned that this continuous expansion severely threatens the viability of a two-state solution, which is crucial for lasting peace.
This expansion occurs amid increased violence; Palestinian authorities documented over 2,100 illegal settler attacks this year alone, which resulted in the death of four Palestinians.
