A Nigerian family is in distress after a shocking incident in Saudi Arabia involving a mother, her husband, and a wrongly tagged bag. The case has raised concerns about airline negligence, human rights, and the safety of international travelers.

Abdullahi Baffa, the husband of Maryam Hussaini-Abdullahi, revealed that his wife was arrested in Jeddah after Ethiopian Airlines allegedly mismatched her luggage with a sack containing marijuana. According to him, Saudi officials went as far as chaining her hands and legs during detention.

The couple, who left their children behind in Nigeria, traveled with only one bag each. Both bags were cleared properly at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport before their connecting flight through Addis Ababa. On arrival in Jeddah, however, their luggage was missing.

After buying new clothes in Madinah, they prepared to return home. Shockingly, Ethiopian Airlines cleared Abdullahi's passport but blocked Maryam from boarding, claiming her name was linked to a suspicious "Ghana must go" sack. Immigration officers then directed them to a Saudi detention facility.

Although security operatives later confirmed that the tag numbers on the bag did not match Maryam's claim tag, she was still detained for further investigation. Abdullahi insists his wife is innocent and accuses Ethiopian Airlines of attempting a cover-up.

The family is demanding her immediate release and accountability from both the airline and Saudi authorities. The case continues to spark outrage, highlighting the urgent need for better passenger rights and stronger international travel protections.
