Title: Deadly Escalation: Israel Strikes Iran, IRGC Chiefs Killed
Post by: Abdulrahmon Mubarak on Jun 16, 2025, 12:49 PM
A significant escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict has been reported by Iranian state media. Tasnim news agency confirmed the deaths of Mohammad Kazemi, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) intelligence chief, and his deputy, Hassan Mohaqiq.

Both high-ranking officials were reportedly killed in an Israeli strike on Sunday. This development marks a serious turn in the ongoing hostilities between the two nations.

In addition to Kazemi and Mohaqiq, a third IRGC intelligence officer, Mohsen Bagheri, was also reported killed in the same strike, which occurred in Tehran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously announced the deaths of Kazemi and Mohaqiq, indicating a clear Israeli objective in the recent operations.

Sunday marked the third consecutive day of direct attacks between Israel and Iran, resulting in numerous civilian casualties and intensifying fears of a broader regional conflict.

As the death toll continues to mount, both sides have issued threats of deploying even greater force, signaling a dangerous trajectory for the conflict.

In Israel, at least 14 fatalities have been confirmed. Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported a civilian-heavy death toll of 224 in Iran from Israeli attacks since Friday.

For the first time, Iran launched a daytime missile barrage against Israel. One missile struck a building in Haifa, injuring four, bringing Israel's wounded count to 15.

Following the missile attacks, Israelis have been advised they can leave shelters, with damage and light injuries reported in both northern and southern regions.

In Tehran, images captured a massive blaze at a fuel depot, illuminated by the night sky, after Israel targeted Iran's oil and gas infrastructure.

Adding to the instability, US-Iran nuclear talks were canceled on Sunday. A US official stated that President Donald Trump rejected an Israeli plan to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
