Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt have strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes in Syria, labeling them a clear violation of sovereignty and international law. These nations emphasize that such actions dangerously escalate regional tensions and threaten stability.
This week, Israel struck Syrian forces and military vehicles near the southern city of Sweida. The strikes reportedly aimed to restore stability amidst deadly clashes between the Druze sect and Bedouin tribes.
On Wednesday, Israeli forces also targeted the Syrian government's military headquarters in Damascus. The Israeli Prime Minister and Defense Minister stated their intervention was to "protect" the Druze community, primarily residing in Suweida.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the strikes as a "dangerous escalation," jeopardizing Syria's security. Spokesman Sufyan Qudah called for an immediate halt, stressing the importance of Syria's sovereignty for regional stability.
Iraq's Foreign Ministry echoed these sentiments, "strongly condemning the repeated military interventions" by Israeli authorities. They view these as "flagrant violations of Syria's sovereignty" and a direct threat to the region's stability.
Egypt also criticized the Israeli strikes in both Syria and Lebanon, warning that such actions will only "heighten tensions and contribute to instability." Earlier this week, Israel carried out strikes in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, targeting Hezbollah, which resulted in 12 fatalities.
