The Government of Abia State has announced the successful approval and conclusion of a landmark funding arrangement aimed at boosting infrastructure and economic development. This achievement follows the collaborative efforts of key stakeholders both within and outside the state.
Special appreciation goes to the National Assembly for approving the borrowing plan that made the project possible. The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, also played a significant role through his leadership in concluding the financing process.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Attorney General of the Federation were instrumental in facilitating the procedures necessary for the project to move forward. Their contributions helped ensure a smooth and timely approval process.
Governor Alex Otti also acknowledged the Vice President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Dr. Mansur Muhktar, for his commitment and follow-up since November 2023. Dr. Muhktar not only initiated contact but also ensured that internal approvals for the requested facility were secured.
All other stakeholders who contributed to this milestone were equally recognized for their input. The Governor noted that the successful conclusion of this funding process represents a shared victory for everyone involved in Abia State's development journey.
According to Governor Otti, this project will strengthen ongoing infrastructural initiatives, modernize the transportation network, revitalize urban centres, and position Abia as a major hub for sustainable economic growth. The Governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous Abia for all residents.
