RIYADH: The LEARN 2025 conference opened at the Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City, marking a major step in Saudi Arabia's digital transformation. The event, held from October 7–9 in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, brought together global experts to showcase innovative educational technologies and strategies for developing human capital.
Attendees explored how digital tools are reshaping classrooms and empowering teachers. Solveig Nicklos, senior adviser at Zayed University, highlighted the importance of integrating technology into learning, emphasizing that teachers must be trained to use AI and smart tools effectively. "Leadership is embedding technology in classrooms, but educators also need guidance to innovate in teaching and learning," she said.
The conference also emphasized gender inclusivity in tech. Nicklos stressed that women currently utilize technology 20% less than men, urging initiatives that break barriers and encourage female participation in AI-driven careers. LEARN 2025 showcased programs designed to equip women with skills critical to the Kingdom's knowledge economy.
Abdulaziz Al-Suayri from Tatweer Educational Technologies presented the Masroof app, which links parents, students, and schools to track nutrition, manage spending, and support cashless transactions. With adoption in over 1,350 schools, the app demonstrates how technology can enhance student well-being alongside academic growth.
Workshops and exhibitions provided hands-on experiences with cutting-edge edutech solutions, offering participants valuable networking opportunities. Experts highlighted partnerships between government, private sectors, and educational institutions as pivotal in driving innovation, AI adoption, and workforce readiness.
Finally, the Energy & Water Academy unveiled Saudi Arabia's first industry-integrated Data Science and AI diploma, training 100 students, including 50% women. This program, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, equips graduates with practical skills to support AI-powered projects, digital centers, and the Kingdom's broader transformation into a knowledge-based economy.Source:
