A 20-year-old Saudi student and Masjid al-Haram volunteer, Mohammed Al-Qasim, tragically died after being stabbed in Cambridge, UK. He was visiting the country for a short language course, scheduled to last 10 weeks. The incident happened near Mill Park Crescent, just before midnight on July 26, 2025.

Emergency teams rushed to the scene after reports of violence. Mohammed was found with serious stab wounds and sadly died before he could be taken to the hospital. UK police confirmed the attack was completely unprovoked, and no signs of confrontation were found. The incident has shocked both the UK and Saudi communities.

A local man, Chas Corrigan, aged 21, has been charged with murder and carrying a knife. He appeared in court on Monday and remains in custody. Another man, aged 50, is being held on suspicion of helping the attacker. Police continue to investigate the case, with forensic teams still examining the crime scene.

Mohammed was well known for his kindness and service at the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah. He would often help pilgrims and hand out sweets during Eid celebrations. His family described him as "a cheerful, respectful, and spiritual young man."

The Saudi Embassy in London is closely working with UK officials to ensure full investigation and assist with the repatriation of his body. A post-mortem is also scheduled.
His funeral will be held this Friday in Masjid al-Haram after Jumu'ah prayer, allowing Muslims worldwide to join in prayers for his soul.
