Saudi Arabia's Aviation Sector Soars to New Heights

In a remarkable display of efficiency and customer satisfaction, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has emerged as the top-performing airport in Saudi Arabia for February. The airport's impressive 82% compliance rate with regulatory standards was driven by its enhanced passenger services and streamlined processing times.
Airport Rankings Reflect Commitment to Excellence


The General Authority of Civil Aviation's (GACA) latest report evaluated airports across five categories, assessing 11 performance standards, including check-in, security, and services for passengers with limited mobility. The rankings revealed that King Fahd International Airport in Dammam led the category for terminals handling 5-15 million passengers annually, with a notable 91% compliance rate.

Regional Airports Shine with Perfect Scores

In a testament to their commitment to excellence, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan, Abha International Airport, Arar International Airport, and Gurayat Domestic Airport all achieved perfect 100% scores in their respective categories. These airports demonstrated exceptional performance in minimizing wait times and providing top-notch services.

Saudi Arabia's Aviation Sector Posts Record Growth

The Kingdom's air travel sector experienced remarkable growth in 2024, with a record 128 million passengers, representing a 15% increase from 2023 and a 25% jump from pre-pandemic levels. Domestic flights carried 59 million passengers, while international routes accounted for 69 million. The number of flights across the Kingdom's airports rose 11% to 905,000, with Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Madinah airports handling 82% of total air traffic.

Ambitious National Aviation Strategy

Saudi Arabia aims to further enhance its aviation sector through its National Aviation Strategy, which targets 250 destinations, 330 million passengers, and 4.5 million tons of air cargo by 2030. This ambitious plan is expected to cement the Kingdom's position as a leading aviation hub in the region.
