US President Donald Trump has toned down his contentious plan to take control of Gaza, suggesting he's open to alternative solutions. Initially, Trump proposed that the US would oversee the territory's reconstruction and resettle its over 2 million residents in neighboring countries, such as Egypt and Jordan.

However, after facing opposition from the leaders of Jordan and Egypt, who deemed the forced displacement of Palestinians unjust, Trump appears to have softened his stance. In a recent interview, he expressed surprise at the rejection, highlighting the significant financial aid the US provides to these countries.

Trump clarified that he's not intent on forcing his plan, instead opting to recommend it. This development comes as Arab leaders convene in Riyadh to devise a counter-proposal for Gaza's post-war reconstruction.
