US President Donald Trump is reportedly planning to visit Saudi Arabia in mid-May, marking his first foreign trip of his second term. This development comes as Saudi Arabia takes on a more prominent role in US foreign policy, hosting talks between the US, Russia, and Ukraine in an effort to broker a ceasefire in the ongoing war.
The White House has also hinted at Saudi Arabia's potential participation in the Abraham Accords, a significant diplomatic effort aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors. Trump's visit is seen as a testament to the strengthening ties between the US and Saudi Arabia.

Notably, Trump had previously mentioned plans to visit Saudi Arabia earlier this month, stating on March 6 that he would likely travel there within the next month and a half. This would not be his first trip to the kingdom, as his inaugural foreign visit in 2017 was also to Riyadh.

According to Axios, April 28 was initially considered as a potential date for the visit but was later postponed. The current plan is for Trump to travel to Saudi Arabia in mid-May, although no official announcement has been made by the White House or the Saudi government.
The visit is expected to further solidify the US-Saudi relationship, which has seen significant cooperation in recent years, including a historic $350 billion arms deal signed during Trump's 2017 visit. The deal aimed to counterbalance Iran's influence in the region and bolster Saudi Arabia's military capabilities.

While the White House has not commented on the visit, Trump's itinerary is expected to include key meetings with Saudi officials, focusing on regional security, trade, and diplomatic efforts.
The upcoming visit will be closely watched, given the complex dynamics at play in the Middle East and the US's continued efforts to navigate the region's intricate politics.
