Terrorists stormed a mosque in Zamfara State during early morning prayers, abducting worshippers and deepening fears over Nigeria's worsening insecurity. The shocking attack happened on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Yarlaluka community in Dansadau District, Maru Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that at least three Muslim worshippers were seized at gunpoint, including a respected elder, Dan Asabe Alhaji Garba Akarya. The gunmen operated without challenge, highlighting security gaps despite government assurances of progress in tackling banditry.

Security operatives later invaded the troubled community and arrested six suspects believed to be connected with the mosque attack. Authorities disclosed that the suspects are undergoing interrogation, but residents remain fearful of further raids.

This fresh abduction follows a series of coordinated assaults by terrorists across Zamfara State in recent weeks. Communities under Talata Mafara Local Government, including Yan Uku and Farin Dutse, have suffered repeated raids, mass kidnappings, and violent looting. The pattern of attacks has displaced hundreds of villagers, forcing many to abandon their ancestral homes.

One resident narrated how his elder brother, Muhammadu Lakada, was abducted twice within a year. During the latest assault, gunmen also took his son and a neighbour, later releasing the boy with instructions to bring back a phone number. Such accounts illustrate the terror ordinary people endure under persistent attacks.

The repeated raids have created a wave of displacement, with families fleeing to neighbouring towns and beyond Zamfara. Residents fear that unless urgent security reinforcements arrive, entire communities risk being emptied by bandit violence.
