On Sunday, Syria's military launched rocket and artillery attacks on Lebanon, accusing Iran-backed Hezbollah of killing three Syrian soldiers. The strikes have heightened tensions between the two conflict-ridden nations. 

According to Syria's state news agency, Sana, Hezbollah ambushed and captured the soldiers near the Syria-Lebanon border west of Homs before executing them inside Lebanese territory. Syria's defense ministry condemned the act as a "dangerous escalation" and vowed to take all necessary countermeasures.
