Palestine Urges World: Stop Illegal Israeli Settlement Plan Now

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is urgently calling for international action to halt Israel's renewed E1 settlement plan. This controversial project in occupied East Jerusalem poses a severe threat to the long-hoped-for two-state solution.

This highly contentious plan includes building 3,000 new housing units. Its primary objective appears to be isolating occupied East Jerusalem, effectively severing its connection to the occupied West Bank. This move would dramatically alter the geopolitical landscape.

Already, over 12,000 acres of land have been seized by Israel. This aggressive expansion could potentially lead to the displacement of 5,000 Palestinians from their homes and communities, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

The Ministry stated, "We are following this serious issue in coordination with all components of the international community and all countries." They emphasized that "Everyone must fulfill their responsibilities to prevent Israel from implementing its colonial project."

This plea highlights the critical need for global intervention. The international community's silence or inaction could embolden further unilateral actions, making a peaceful resolution even more challenging to achieve.

The Palestinian Ministry has specifically called on the UN Security Council and European nations to act decisively. They urge these influential bodies to take concrete steps against Israel's continued illegal expansion and protect the prospects for peace.
