Residents near the de facto border are preparing for potential conflict. In Chakothi, Pakistan-administered Kashmir, locals are readying underground bunkers, fearing airstrikes. Muhammad Javed, a resident, said, "We are cleaning the bunker to ensure we're not caught off guard." The international community is concerned.

The UN Secretary-General and US State Department are offering mediation and urging restraint. Indian authorities are investigating the Pahalgam attack, issuing wanted posters for three suspects and announcing a bounty for information leading to their arrest.
