The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended Nigeria's National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Department of State Services (DSS) for successfully capturing two notorious terrorist leaders. According to MURIC, the operation marks a significant breakthrough in Nigeria's long fight against terrorism.

On Friday, 15th August 2025, authorities confirmed the arrest of Mahmud Muhammad Usman, the self-proclaimed leader of Al-Ansaru, and his associate, Mahmud al-Nigeri. Both men had been on the wanted lists of Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the United Nations for years. Their capture followed a carefully planned sting operation carried out between May and July 2025.

MURIC's Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, praised NSA Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for replicating his outstanding track record from his time at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The group also commended DSS Director, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, for his professional and quiet but effective approach to tackling security threats.

The organization further applauded the sacrifices of DSS operatives in the field, noting that their courage and dedication continue to secure the nation despite tough working conditions. MURIC called on the Federal Government to provide more equipment, resources, and welfare support for security agencies.

In its statement, MURIC emphasized that terrorism has no place in Islam, stressing its motto of "Dialogue, No Violence." The group insisted that terrorists only tarnish the image of Islam and must never be seen as representatives of Muslims.

MURIC concluded by declaring that every investment in security is worthwhile since all other sectors depend on national stability to thrive.
