Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa has emphasized that unifying Syria after more than a decade of civil war should not come through bloodshed or further military campaigns. Instead, he urged dialogue, reconciliation, and national understanding as the way forward for the war-weary nation. His remarks, broadcast on state television, highlighted his rejection of any attempts to partition the country.

The president spoke during a meeting with community leaders from Idlib and other regions. He insisted that Syria's territorial integrity is not negotiable, warning that outside powers and internal groups hoping to divide the nation into smaller enclaves would fail. He described unity through cooperation as the only sustainable solution.

Al-Sharaa accused Israel of interfering in southern Syria, particularly in Sweida province, where violent clashes recently broke out between Druze fighters, Bedouin groups, and government forces. He claimed that Israel is exploiting sectarian tensions to weaken the Syrian state and expand its regional influence.

In Sweida, demonstrations erupted after a week of violence that began on July 13. Protesters, many from the Druze community, demanded self-determination and condemned state forces for alleged human rights violations. Witnesses and monitoring groups accused the army of siding with Bedouin fighters and carrying out extrajudicial killings.

The Syrian president admitted that violations were committed by several sides, including government forces, and pledged accountability for all perpetrators regardless of affiliation. He said rebuilding trust requires justice as well as dialogue.

Meanwhile, Damascus continues sensitive talks with Kurdish leaders in the north and northeast over a delayed deal to integrate their semi-autonomous institutions into the Syrian state. Al-Sharaa confirmed discussions are ongoing to find workable mechanisms for lasting national unity.
