The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has applauded Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State for reintroducing Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) in schools. According to the apex Islamic body, this step shows fairness, inclusivity, and justice in education.

The NSCIA, under the leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, described the governor's action as a reflection of true Islamic principles. It said Islam promotes equity, justice, and the protection of minorities, which are clearly demonstrated in this decision.

The council emphasized that the reintroduction of CRK in Muslim-majority Katsina State proves that religious tolerance and respect can thrive when leaders act with fairness. It urged other governors across Nigeria to adopt similar practices for the sake of unity.

While supporting the teaching of CRK in Muslim states, the NSCIA also called for reciprocity. It advised governors in Christian-majority states, especially in the South East, South South, and parts of the South West, to allow the teaching of Islamic Religious Studies (IRS) in their schools.

The council argued that true national harmony can only be achieved when all citizens enjoy equal treatment, regardless of their religious background. It stressed that restricting IRS in Christian-dominated states contradicts the values of fairness and inclusivity.

The NSCIA concluded that Governor Radda's example should serve as a guiding principle for all stakeholders. It noted that promoting religious balance in schools is essential for peace, justice, and sustainable unity in Nigeria.
