Nigerian troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a deadly terrorist attack in Wulgo, Borno State, leaving at least seven fighters dead. Among the casualties were two senior commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, several other terrorists sustained severe injuries during the heavy exchange of fire. The operation further demonstrated the resilience of Nigerian forces in countering insurgent threats in the northeast.

The eliminated ISWAP commanders were identified as Abu Nazir, the Munzir of Juye, and Abu Fatima, the Munzir of Koloram. Their deaths mark a significant setback for the terrorist group's leadership structure in the Lake Chad axis.

Troops also recovered four motorcycles from the insurgents, though an armoured vehicle (MRAP) was set ablaze by the retreating terrorists during the confrontation. Despite the loss of equipment, the military achieved a tactical victory.

A military source confirmed the encounter, stating: "The terrorists came heavily armed but were decisively engaged. We inflicted heavy casualties on them, including two of their senior commanders."

The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to sustained clearance operations aimed at dismantling terrorist hideouts and restoring peace in conflict-affected communities. The success in Wulgo reinforces the military's ongoing efforts to weaken ISWAP's operational capacity in the region.
