A leading Islamic rights group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has urged the Federal Government, state authorities, and parastatals to avoid any form of business dealings with Israel.

The appeal follows the recent announcement of a partnership between Nigeria's foreign ministry and Israel's foreign ministry to introduce forty Israeli startups into the Nigerian market. MURIC strongly criticized the move, calling it morally and politically wrong.

Professor Ishaq Akintola, Founder and Executive Director of MURIC, said in a statement on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, that the Israeli startup initiative is a deceptive tactic from a state with a long record of human rights violations. He described Israel as a rogue and genocidal state that continues to defy international law and United Nations resolutions.

Akintola emphasized that since October 7, Israel's military actions have killed over 60,000 Palestinians, with women and children making up the majority of the victims. He further noted that Christians have been attacked in their places of worship and that Palestinians are facing extreme starvation due to blockades.

According to MURIC, doing business with Israel under these circumstances is equivalent to "dancing on the graves" of innocent victims. The organization warned that every dollar from Israel represents "blood money" tied to oppression and genocide.

MURIC therefore appealed to Nigerian leaders and citizens to reject any financial incentives from Israel and to stand in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people. It stressed that any partnership with Israel amounts to supporting a terrorist state.
