On Thursday, a significant diplomatic step was taken as Jordan's King Abdullah II and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez oversaw the signing of a pivotal declaration. This agreement aims to establish a strategic partnership between their two nations, promising deepened cooperation across a wide array of sectors.

The newly forged partnership is designed to boost collaboration in economic, commercial, social, cultural, and defense fields. Further cementing these ties, a memorandum of understanding specifically for the agriculture sector was signed, alongside an extradition agreement, as reported by the Jordan News Agency.

During his visit to Madrid, King Abdullah II also held discussions with King Felipe VI of Spain. In their meeting, the Jordanian monarch lauded Spain's unwavering support for Palestinian rights. He specifically commended Spain's efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region and its resolute commitment to bringing an end to the ongoing Israeli war in the Gaza Strip. King Abdullah particularly highlighted the importance of Spain's recent decision to recognize the Palestinian state, expressing Jordan's ongoing work to garner broader European support for the Arab plan focused on rebuilding Gaza without any forced displacement of its residents.

Echoing these sentiments, Prime Minister Sanchez underscored Jordan's crucial role in advocating for and supporting Palestinians, reiterating the urgent need for the war in Gaza to cease. King Abdullah was accompanied in these high-level talks by key Jordanian officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the King's Office Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan's Ambassador to Spain, Raghad Al-Saqqa.

This strategic partnership signals a stronger alliance between Jordan and Spain, particularly in addressing critical regional and international issues.
