A Jordanian court delivered 20-year prison sentences to four individuals on Wednesday. These sentences are connected to a case involving the recently outlawed Muslim Brotherhood and alleged plans to undermine Jordan's national security.

Earlier in April, Jordanian intelligence reported the arrest of sixteen suspects. Authorities claimed these individuals were plotting to sow chaos and destabilize the kingdom. This operation preceded Jordan's announcement of a ban on all Muslim Brotherhood activities.

The state security court convicted the four defendants on charges related to terrorism. These charges included illegal possession of explosives, weapons, and ammunition. The court stated the intent was to disrupt public order and threaten social safety and security.

While the court statement didn't explicitly link the four to the Brotherhood, state television had aired purported confessions. The Brotherhood, however, distanced itself from the individuals. Jordan's ban on the group followed years of its continued operation despite a 2020 dissolution ruling.
